Signs of winter

Days are getting colder..

.. trees are empty

.. summer flowers are dead

... and the hockey rink is up!

Well, please let me know when the little fluffy stuff starts falling out of the sky, and the temperatures drop to devil-like minus 20C! So then I can tease you and say it's only +whatever temperature here, but raining!

Simply living

I created this blog in 2009 after immigrating to Canada to force myself to write creatively in English. Unfortunately, it didn't force me enough to write in the first place, let alone to be very creative.

2.5 years later, a badly needed one week stress leave with lots of biking in beautiful autumn colours, plenty of tea, hours of chats with old and new friends encouraged me to try writing again. This time it's not about learning English, but it's about finding balance and to stress less. It's about living simply; eating and sleeping well, enjoying the beauty of the nature, sweating in the sauna and laughing with friends.

Getting rid of stress -resolutions 2011 - adopted to 2012 as well

Laugh out loud every day.
Smile to other people when walking on the street.
Think the weather is always perfect, no matter whether it is wet, frozen, sunny or muggy.
Stop feeling guilty when people are just being nice to you.
Admire pretty tea cups, jars, vases and glasses at fleamarkets (and buy some when absolutely necessary).
Sleep at least 7 hours a night, and have a nap every weekend.
Walk or bike to work and observe; see the little details of life (while avoiding accidents).
Sweat the stress out in kettlebells class, pilates or yoga every week.
Have a cold beer, but not every night.
Enjoy red wine with chocolate and cheese, moderately.
Celebrate the in-the-building-sauna and use if often.
Eat beautiful and healthy food, and occasionally some so-much-needed-chickenwings-or-nachos-or-a-burger.
Work 9-5 and nothing more.
Have a one hour lunch break every day.
